About City Bank Limited
It is a first generation private commercial bank and is one of the oldest commercial banks in the country. Then known as “City Bank Plc”, its operations were started on March 28, 1983 by 12 local businessmen of the country. These directors started with a capital of just BDT 34 million, which now stands at a respectable BDT 3,300 million in capital and reserves. Sohail RK Hussain was appointed CEO of City Bank in November 2013. International Finance Corporation bought a five percent stake in Citibank for Rs 1.31 billion in February 2016. In December 2017, Citibank raised $26 million for Doreen Power, a subsidiary of Doreen Group, to build a power plant in Munshiganj district.
